Governors' Global Climate Summit - Finding Solutions Through
Regional & Global Action, November 18-19, 2008

On September 26, 2008, Governor Schwarzenegger announced that he, along with
Governors across the United States and officials from around the world, would come
together in an effort to create a framework for United Nations' negotiators to use when they
meet in Poland this December to being work on a new global climate change agreement.

This Global Climate Summit will bring key world leaders to the drawing board to discuss new
and creative ideas to combat climate change and create an alliance of states provinces and
regional governments to implement those solutions. The new global agreement emerging
form the U.N. talks, culminating with a meeting to be held in Copenhagen in December,
2009, will be stronger and more sustainable due to the work of the dedicated leaders
participating in the Governors' Global Climate Summit.

November's Global Climate Summit in Los Angeles will be a catalyst to a new, improved
global policy to combat climate change and build stronger economies based on clean,
renewable sources of energy.

California, nicknamed "The Golden State," has led the way with a strong climate action
plan and was the first in the nation to pass legislation to cap greenhouse gas emissions.
Other American states have been taking notice, along with the European Union, Canadian
provinces, Australian states, and Mexican states, and have adopted similar plans.  Check

"Building Blocks" of a Climate Action Plan

Developing a climate action plan for a state or province involves many people, from
scientists to politicians to non-profit employees.   Many building blocks are needed to
create a comprehensive climate action plan, including a greenhouse gas emissions
reduction target, a clear and executable plan, transportation policies, energy efficiency
